A man from Farnworth has been jailed for an assault on a prison officer.
Joshua Walker carried out the attack in HMP Leeds in September last year.
During the incident he headbutted the staff member at the prison.
The 27-year-old admitted assault on an emergency service worker by beating him during a recent appearance at Leeds Magistrates Court.
Following the outcome Walker, from Penn Street, was given six months in prison.
The court determined that a prison sentence was inevitable.
The reasons were given were that he had used his head as a weapon, he had a substantial previous record for offences of violence and attacks against emergency services workers.
The court took his guilty plea into account when determining the sentence to impose.
