A man from Radcliffe is one of two men who have been charged after a man was left unconscious and not breathing following an attack in Bury town centre last weekend.

Police were called to Silver Street at around 4am on Saturday, June 18 after reports of a group of men and women fighting.

Officers found a man in his 30s unconscious with head injuries and gave CPR.

Last weekend, Detective Inspector Sam Taylor, of Bury CID, said: "On arrival the victim was unconscious, not breathing and bleeding heavily from a serious head wound to the back of the skull.

"Officers commenced CPR and the North West Ambulance Service attended within minutes.

"It appears the victim has had an altercation with a group of males and has been punched - he has then fallen and hit his head on the pavement, leaving him unconscious.

"A second male from the group then kicked the victim before walking off and returning to film the victim on the floor.”

Kane Mawdsley, of Clyde Terrace, Radcliffe, and Liam Rylance, of Brierley Street, Bury, have been charged with grievous bodily harm and have been remanded in custody.

They are due to appear at Manchester Crown Court on Monday, July 25.
