An investigation is underway after a woman was sexually assaulted after being tailgated into her apartment block yesterday.

The woman was followed into the apartment block on Granby Row, Manchester City Centre by a man who then pushed her through her apartment door and sexually assaulted her.

Police were called at around 10am on Friday and have now released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

Detective Inspector Geoff Machent, of GMP’s City of Manchester district, said: “I would first and foremost like to reassure members of the public that we have officers in the city centre and anyone who is concerned can approach them.

“We are carrying out extensive enquiries to get to the bottom of this as soon as possible but we are appealing for the public’s help to identify the man in the image. We’d also ask people in the area to be vigilant and report any suspicions."

Officers believe this is linked to a report of suspicious circumstances in the Plymouth Grove area of the city centre on Wednesday June 22.

Anyone with any information can contact police on 0161 856 6059 quoting 966 24/06/22.

Alternatively, witnesses can call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
