A car with cloned number plates was seized in Bolton last night, Friday, after members of the public reported their suspicions about it.
The car was seen on The Welland in Westhoughton with police community support officers called to the scene after people in the area passed on information about it.
On closer investigation they found that the black Volkswagen had false number plates attacked and seized the vehicle.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Thanks to information from a member of the public PCSO Moore and PCSO Martin seized this vehicle last night on The Welland in Westhoughton.
“The vehicle was on cloned plates and has been recovered pending further enquiries.”
No arrests have as yet been reported in relation to the cloned plates.
This comes amid recurring concerns about car thefts and other crimes and cases of anti-social behaviour on the roads across Bolton and further afield in Greater Manchester.
As well as thefts, this has included dangerous driving, drink and drug driving and speeding.
Police have urged anyone concerned about crime on the roads to get in touch by calling 101 or 999 in the event of an emergency.
Alternatively, witnesses can call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
