A driver has been arrested after being caught in an allegedly stolen car that was involved in a crash with another vehicle earlier on Sunday.

The driver of the Ford Ecosport failed to stop after being spotted by police officers on patrol in Little Hulton.

The officers were eventually able to bring the car to a stop and the driver was arrested in connection with theft of a motor vehicle.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “This Ford Ecosport would fail to stop for a Safter Roads Tasking Team patrol in Little Hulton.

“It collided with another vehicle on Trafford Drive.

“One person was detained for theft of a motor vehicle.

“The car was found to be stolen from Bolton on June 23.”

Fire crews from Farnworth confirmed earlier on Sunday that they had been called to the scene of a crash off Trafford Drive in Little Hulton in which a woman was helped from her car by paramedics.

She was not seriously injured but the road remained “impassable” while firefighters, police and paramedics dealt with the scene.

Anyone concerned about crime on the roads can call police on 101 or on 999 in an emergency.

Alternatively, witnesses can call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
