A driver will be facing the courts and her car was seized after police allegedly caught her driving a cloned vehicle without licence or insurance.

The Suzuki Ignis, which was reportedly found with cloned licence plates, was stopped on St Helens Road by officers from the Safer Roads Tasking Team earlier on Sunday.

After discovering the alleged lack of licence or insurance, the driver was reported to the courts and the car has been seized.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “This cloned Suzuki Ignis was stopped on St Helens Road by the Safer Roads Tasking Team today.

“It was found to have no licence or insurance.

“She’s off to court and the car is off to the recovery yard.”

No other arrests have been reported in connection with the cloned Suzuki Ignis.

This comes amid recurring concerns about crime and cases of anti-social behaviour on the roads across Greater Manchester.

As well as thefts, this has included dangerous driving, drink and drug driving and speeding.

Police have urged anyone concerned about crime on the roads to get in touch by calling 101 or 999 in the event of an emergency.

Alternatively, witnesses can call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
