A large knife was found in an abandoned stolen car in Bolton earlier today after the alleged thief made off from police.
Officers spotted the car, a blue Ford, while on Patrol on Moss Bank Way and gave chase through Halliwell before the driver abandoned it and escaped on foot on Boundary Street.
On inspecting the car, the officers then discovered a knife lying on one of the front seats which the escaped driver appeared to have left behind.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “A stolen vehicle was spotted on Moss Bank Way, Bolton.
“It was pursued through Halliwell and abandoned on Boundary Street.
“The male made off, but the vehicle is off to CSI for forensic exams.”

No other arrests have been reported in connection with the incident and the man appears to have been along in the car at the time he was pursued.
Police will hope that the CSI examinations will help to find the stolen car’s rightful owners as well as the identity of the man who made off on Boundary Street.
