An 11-year-old boy was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash earlier today and had to be taken to hospital, with an investigation now underway.

The boy was injured on Hyde Road in the Debdale Park area of Manchester at around 1.20pm on Sunday when a car collided with him and the driver then failed to stop at the scene, according to police.

The boy was taken to hospital and police have now launched an investigation into the incident.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “At around 1.20pm on Sunday 26 June 2022, we received a report of a collision on Hyde Road in the Debdale Park area.

“Officers attended and established that a vehicle had collided with a pedestrian and failed to stop at the scene.

“The pedestrian, an 11-year-old boy, has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”

No other injuries have been reported in connection with the incidents and no arrests have yet been made.
