All creatures great and small flocked to this year's Bury Agricultural Show.

The countryside came rolling into Burrs as farmers, traders and spectators travelled from across the North West, including as far as Derbyshire, Yorkshire and Cheshire, as well as closer to home from Bury and Bolton.

The show drew in a big crowd of all ages who enjoyed a variety of entertainment and competitions, while farmers showcased their livestock.

Artisan products were for sale and traditional countryside skills were demonstrated.

Highlights included a stuntman show.

In the livestock, Bull and Cow section, the overall champion title went to Hallwood Hereford's from Cheshire pictured is young Katherine Shaw with her prized cow Lady Jewel.

Farmers James Noon and fiancée Shannon Lynam showed their prized Valais Blacknose sheep which originate from Switzerland.

The right pedigree of these sheep can command prices from £2,000 to £6,000 pounds each depending on the blood line where a normal common sheep seen in a field would cost £200.

Dog owner Amanda Courtney from Bury picked up two rosettes with her dog Annie, 1st for gorgeous girl and 3rd for Best pup respectively.

Local garage owner from Garside Garage Mr Vinny Morris was keen to display his 1971 Morris 1000 police car alongside other classic cars including some from the USA, even an American Fire Truck.

Also attending was local MP James Daly with his family and The Holcombe Harriers.

People also enjoyed various other activities including the Farrier competition and the young farmers raising funds with the test your strength trying to ring the bell with a big mallet as well as dunking the volunteer by throwing a ball, all light hearted and good fun.

Local market traders also displayed and sold their own produce including last year's Best stall winner The Chilli Jam Man and Bury Markets well known Purdons Cheeses offering free samples just to name a couple.

The Hogg Show, a travelling pig stage show, was in attendance to show off its porcine friends, including the stars of the show Will.I.Ham and Del Boy.

The show’s organiser Karen Southwell said: “It was a tremendous day, the weather was kind to us and we’d like to thank the general public of Bury for coming out and supporting us, everybody seemed to have an amazing time.

“The Hogg Show went down very, very well, people loved watching the pigs doing all their little tricks.

“There was an excellent turnout for the sheep, we had different breeds of sheep, about 250 breeds of sheep on the showground.

Karen has already begun making plans for next year’s show, which will take place on Sunday, June 25 2023.
