A hotel and spa in Bolton has appointed a new director and general manager.

The Last Drop Village Hotel and Spa in Bolton has made the appointments following a  promotion.

Former general manager Gerry McGee, who has been with the hotel in Bromley Cross for a total of 13 years over two stints, has become a director, while Paul Ellison has taken over the his role at the four-star hotel, which is owned by the Emerson Group.

Gerry, 68, who began his career in the hotel industry in 1975, first joined the Last Drop Village Hotel and Spa in 2001 as general manager.

He left in 2008 to take up managerial posts at hotels in Scotland and Surrey before rejoining the Bromley Cross hotel in 2016.

He said: “The last six years that I have been back at the Last Drop Village Hotel and Spa have been challenging to say the least.

"In that time, I have overseen the hotel being fully refurbished and relaunched and been at the helm when we have had to negotiate our way through the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdowns.

“I look forward to my role as director to plan the strategy which will help maintain the success of the hotel but also put plans in place to take it forward.

“This is a superb hotel, in a stunning location, and one that I have grown to love during my 13 years here.

"I am very much looking forward to playing a part in its ongoing future.”

Paul held roles as a general manager at a number of hotels throughout the country before returning to the north-west.

He said: “I am delighted and honoured to be given the position as general manager at the Last Drop Village Hotel and Spa.

"It is a vital role at a prestigious hotel that is renowned for the high quality of its customer experience.

“I feel that having worked my way up in the industry from waiter to general manager gives me valuable insight into how every part of a hotel works.

“One of my key aims is to establish the hotel as the premier wedding hotel in the area.

"The hotel is ideally placed as it has 135 superb rooms and is set in seven acres of rolling Lancashire countryside.

“We have already made strides towards this goal as the hotel was named as ‘Best Venue in Manchester’ at the County Brides North West Wedding Awards 2022 on June 15.

“This award is recognition of the excellent work of the team at the hotel and bears testament to our ethos which puts the customer at the heart of everything we do.

"Giving our customers the best experience we can is what we hope will prove the key to our ongoing success and I look forward to working with the team to ensure our ongoing success."
