A 25-year-old was hit in the face with brick and robbed of his car at knife-point late last night.

The man, who does not want to be named, was left with bruises on his face, head and arm after he was jumped while parking up his Toyota Yaris.

He was attacked after parking on Newton Street in Halliwell during a night out.

His dad told The Bolton News: “Two women opened his passenger car door and proceeded to ask if he smoked.

“Before he could answer, the driver’s side door was thrown open by a man with a brick, who hit him on the face and the head, before taking out a knife and threatening to stab him if he didn’t get out of the car.”

Police have confirmed they are investigating the knife point robbery.

The victim’s dad added: “It can happen to anybody, and they could have stabbed him, what would we do then?

“It’s not about the car, it’s about the injuries he got when they hit him with a brick.

“It wasn’t life threatening but he went to hospital and has been shaken up badly and has said he felt dizzy because of the shock.”

The young man, who lives in Westhoughton, was on a night out when he was attacked by two men and two women.

The victim’s dad continued: “It’s not normal behaviour, hitting someone with a brick and walking with a knife, why would they do something like this?

“It’s shocking and it wasn’t even a luxury sports car.

“When I heard what happened I was in tears because that’s my son and if he had been stabbed and killed, I would have died right then and there too.

“For my wife and I, we don’t know what we’d do without our kids and now I won’t let my other kids go out that late at night alone.”

A spokesman for Bolton Police said: “We can confirm a report of a car being stolen at knifepoint was made to us at 12.40am today.

“Initial enquiries are ongoing to trace the vehicle and the individuals involved.”
