Police and fire were called following a death.

Firefighters from Atherton Fire Station assisted police on Thursday afternoon to gain entry into Snydale Gate Farm on Bolton Road in Westhoughton.

They were called at noon.

Police say the death is being treated as non suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

One fire engine from Atherton station attended the scene and remained there for around one hour and 20 minutes.

A spokesperson for GMFRS said: “At approximately 12.50pm on Thursday,firefighters were called to assist police at an incident on Bolton Road, in Westhoughton.

“One fire engine from Atherton station attended the scene. Firefighters were in attendance for around one hour and 20 minutes.”
