Two men have been arrested in Bolton today after police say they caught them driving an allegedly stolen car.
Police from Greater Manchester Police’s transport unit reported on Monday that they gave chase to the two men through the town after their suspicions were raised.
The men were then caught after abandoning the car and trying to escape on foot.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Officers today arrested two males in the Bolton area after they were found driving a stolen vehicle.
“Both males were detained by our officers after a foot chase after abandoning the stolen vehicle.
“Both arrested for handling stolen goods and other offences.”
Officers have not as yet confirmed where in Bolton the chase took place.
This comes after other recent cases of car related crime, including the use of cloned number plates, driving without insurance and driving without in and around the Bolton area.
Many of these have resulted in cars being seized by officers and sanctions handed out to owners.
Police have appealed for anyone concerned about vehicle theft or about other cases of crime and anti-social behaviour on the roads to phone 101 or 999 in an emergency.
Witnesses can also contact independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
