Emergency temporary traffic lights have been installed in Bolton town centre after a signal failure.

Traffic signals failed near Bolton Market on Black Horse Street on Tuesday afternoon, with one passer-by saying the outage was causing delays and queues of traffic along the road.

By around 1.30pm engineers had been dispatched and temporary lights had been put up on Moor Lane just before, with traffic still facing slight disruption.

A passer-by said that the outage had caused “chaos” in the area around the market.

The area is at the centre of developments.

This will see new housing and business spaces built all across the town centre with the aim of rejuvenating the local economy.

Bolton Council ultimately hopes to see up to £1billion of investment made in the area as part of is ongoing masterplan.
