An inquest has opened into the death of a young man in a car crash last month.

James Lee Dickson, from Bolton, who was living on Worsley Avenue, Little Hulton at the time, was just 37 years- old when he died following a crash.

The crash happened on Manchester Road East, Little Hulton on Sunday, June 19.

Police were called to the scene at around 8.50pm.

Police Coroner's Officer Neil McCaffrey said: “A police investigation into this death is currently continuing.”

He told the hearing at Bolton Coroners Court on Wednesday  that witnesses reported Mr Dickson appeared to have been driving 'in tandem with another vehicle' before losing control and crashing.

PCO McCaffrey told the court how Mr Dickson, a plasterer by trade, was formally identified by Police Constable Aaron Cramer using a recent photograph.

Following an examination, Royal Bolton pathologist Dr Jamie Robinson gave Mr Dickson’s cause of death as a head injury.

Coroner Timothy Brennand fixed a review date for December 10 this year to allow police investigations to continue.

He requested updates from Greater Manchester Police, from Traffic Police and from the North West Ambulance Service in time for that date.

Mr Brennand also gave approval for Mr Dickson’s body to be released.
