The countdown is on to unveil Bolton's flagship youth centre after a multi-million pound transformation.

Bolton Lads and Girls' Club (BLGC) on Spa Road, has been closed for nearly two years - with services moved elsewhere - to undergo a privately funded £2.4M refurbishment on their main site.

The centre has been completely transformed, internally and externally to offer the best facilities for young people.

It will officially re-opening its doors on Monday, July 18.

The BLGC centre will open with a rebranded identity under the name of “Infinity”

Revamp works worth £2.4million will be finished later this month

Zoe Mitchell, head of people and culture at BLGC said: “We are building an amazing team,  ready to welcome the young people back into the club to enable them to be the best they can be.

"Our volunteers are key to supporting this; we cannot do it without them. There are many opportunities for people to join the BLGC family - a few hours a week makes all the difference.”

Centre managers have promised that popular venue, which can trace its history all the way back to 1890, believe they can expect to see up to 3000 new members join within the first six months of reopening.

The new look will be based around 'infinity' branding

While closed, Bolton Lads and Girls Club continued to run services across Bolton, with a site in Westhoughton a sports facility at Hacken Lane in Darcy Lever and a central presence on Deansgate in Bolton town centre

But the reopening of the main centre on Spa Lane, which has been a Bolton institution for generations, remains the club’s most highly anticipated project and centre managers are encouraging young people interested in joining to sign up at the earliest opportunity.

The club anticipates that around 3000 more young people could join

But they also hope to see more people join as volunteers to help them run activities and live up to the new ‘infinity’ branding by keeping the centre going for new generations of youngsters long into the future.
