There are just four weeks to go until Bolton Pride returns to the town - and registration for the parade and stalls are open now.

Bolton Pride is returning to the town next month after a long break due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Across the weekend of August 6 and 7, Bolton Pride organisers have an array of exciting activities and events for the whole community to get involved with.

Celebrating 50 years of Pride, the festival like weekend will kick off on the Friday with a launch party from 7pm at V5 bar in the Market Place.

There will be performers at the event such as Tina Turner and drag acts.

Kevin Wright, Bolton Pride Festival director said the Friday will start the Pride weekend with a "night of fun".

Saturday August 6 will start with a parade from Queen's Park into the town centre and finishing at Victoria Square.

Registration for the parade will open at 9:30am on Chorley New Road at the Queen's Park entrance but guests are asked to register online first before they attend, registration is now open.

The parade will then begin at 11am and will arrive at the stage set up in Victoria Square at 12pm lunch.

Throughout the day until 6pm, there will be a free festival like day with performers taking to the stage every 30 minutes.

Some performers include Keith George, Smashby and various Drag Queens.

Across the Saturday and Sunday there will be a range of stalls and traders, to purchase food and drinks as well as other items.

Registration is also now open for stall applications.

On the Sunday from 10am until 4pm, there will be a family fun day with Pride organisers working closely with Bolton Wanderers at Home.

There will be story time Drag Queen and many more activities for the children.

Kevin said: "I'm very excited as it approaches, the Pride events are good for Bolton and good for the community.

"This is the first time Pride has been open air since 2019, as the last time the event was fully fledged was prepandemic, we want it to come back with a real boom.

"The weekend is for the whole community of Bolton."

Across the weekend there will be a range of giveaways and competitons including a Proud Pooches competition.
