The site of the former GAME shop in the town centre is finally about to be filled.

The shop, which lies in a prime town centre location, has been vacant since 2020 since the gaming retailer moved to inside Sports Direct.

The Coffee House, an independent chain of coffee shops that are spread across the North West, is moving in.

Work is being done to transform the unit and the new Bolton site will be its twelfth

The new coffee shop due to open in mid-August.

Not only do the new occupants promise to breathe new life into the space that is situated on the corner of Victoria Square, but they say they will also provide 15 job opportunities too – with recruitment already underway.

It will be able to serve between 70 and 90 people at any one time and will have both internal and external seating.

A sign installed in the window of the shop says: “What makes our food better than the rest? We use premium, locally sourced ingredients that are prepared with love and delivered daily to ensure quality and freshness every time.

“As foodies ourselves, we only offer our customers products that we would enjoy.

“All our food is homemade and locally produced in our kitchens.”

Food is made in the company's centralised kitchen, and cakes will be made in store.

The Coffee House will sell a range of coffees, as well as a range of signature iced drinks.

Lizzie Clarke, Marketing Manager for The Coffee House, said: “As an independent chain of Coffee House's in the North West of England, we are delighted to be opening our 12th store in the old GAME store in the centre of Bolton.

“Not only will we be filling an empty building but also providing 15 new jobs in the local area.”

The chain wants to bring something 'modern and trendy' to the town centre.

Lizzie says that the interior will reflect Bolton's heritage.

“Our graphic designer is from Bolton, so the wall art will be very-much Bolton-led. She’s very excited.”

“It’s a good location, and it has shelter so people are able to sit outside.”

Brothers Chris and Stephen Shelmerdine opened the doors to their first store in Lymm back in 2011, their vision to create a place where friends, family and work colleagues can meet locally.
