A new Bolton supermarket that will be opening later this year is bidding for right to sell alcohol every day of the week.

The new branch of Heron Foods will be found on Wigan Road, Deane and the store has now applied to Bolton Council for a licence to sell alcohol between 7am and 10pm from Monday to Saturday and from 8am to 8pm on Sundays.

The bid will now go to the authority’s licencing committee for consideration.

A statement from Bolton Council said: “Any interested party or responsible authority may make representations to the council regarding the application during the period of 28 consecutive days starting with the day after the application was lodged with the Council, that day being July 7 2022.

“The last day for representations to be made will therefore be August 4 2022.

“All representations must be made in writing.”

Bolton's newest food and drinks complex coming to Deane

The new Heron Foods is set to be located in a food and drinks complex being developed in the old car park section of the Stags Head.

Once business representatives and members of the community have had the chance to air their views the council will then announce its decision on the licencing bid at a later date.
