Bolton Council will be collecting bins earlier tomorrow, Tuesday, due to the expected searing temperatures.

Bin collections are the latest public service in Bolton to be forced to change their regular pattern by the current heatwave.

In order to protect its employees, Bolton Council has taken the step so that they can collect the bins when the temperatures are cooler.

A spokesperson for the council said: "Due to the adverse weather, bin collections will start earlier tomorrow (Tuesday) to allow our crews to work in cooler temperatures.

"Residents with a bin collection due tomorrow should leave their bins out by 6am.

"Normal service will resume Wednesday, July 20."

Earlier today, rail operator Northern released a public plea for its service users only travel by train if it is essential.
