A Bolton brewed beer is being served in Parliament this week after one of the borough’s MPs chose it to feature as a guest beer.

Having been selected by Bolton West and Atherton MP Chris Green, Pike Pale Ale will now be on tap at the Strangers’ Bar in the Palace of Westminster.

Pike’s Pale Ale is brewed by Blackedge Brewery in Horwich and Mr Green says it has proven popular.

He said: “Blackedge are a brilliant brewery with fantastic beers, and Pike is already going down very well with my parliamentary colleagues.

“I’m really pleased that we’ve been able to showcase one of our excellent local breweries and fly the flag for Bolton West.”

The brewery owners hope that this will see customers from further afield develop a taste for their wares.

Brewery co-owner Wayne Roper said: “We are thankful to Chris for nominating our beer and were delighted to supply one of our original session beers, aptly named Pike after the famous local landmark which can be seen from our brewery.

“It would have been great to be a fly on the wall this week and hear some of the conversations that took place over a pint of one our cherished beers.”
