A man has died after a serious crash between a motorbike and a lorry on a busy Bolton road yesterday afternoon.

Police were called to the scene on Manchester Road, Over Hulton at around 12.30pm to reports of a collision and arrived to find a 33-year-old motorcyclist critically injured.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and officers have confirmed that the lorry driver, a man in his 60s who remained at the scene, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and since released under investigation.

PC Simon Venguedasalon said: “My thoughts firstly go out to the loved ones of the man who has sadly lost his life and we are doing all we can to support his family at this difficult time.

“Work is well underway to understand the circumstances of this incident and after making an arrest at the scene, there is still a thorough investigation to take place.

“That is why we’re appealing for the public to get in touch if they have any details or evidence that will help in this case to enable to piece together what is another tragic collision.”
