Residents have been invited to take part in a “free, friendly and informal” reading group held every month.

The reading group meets at Westhoughton Library and is open to anyone in the area looking to take part with a different book set to be up for discussion every month.

The group will meet regularly in the afternoon of the first Friday of every month and hopes to see new members arrive for the discussions over the coming months.

A statement from Bolton Libraries and Museum Services said: “Join us at Westhoughton Library for our free, friendly and informal reading group next Friday, August 5 at 1pm.

“The reading group takes place on the first Friday of each month at 1pm until 3pm.

“Pop into the library to ask staff for the book being discussed.”

These regular events in Westhoughton are amongst a series of events held by the libraries service across Bolton aimed at engaging the public and providing communities with a range of free events.

As well as larger set pieces events held at the central library on Le Mans Crescent, the service as hosts a range of smaller scale activities across the borough’s various district centres like the reading group in Westhoughton.
