Officials are warning people to remain vigilant after they recieved almost 300 reports of fake emails.

Action Fraud, the UK's national reporting centre for fraud and cyber crime, recieved 298 reports about fake emails purporting to be from Amazon.

The emails claim to that the recipient has won an Amazon gift card and asks them to use the provided link in order to recieve it.

The links in the emails lead to phishing websites that are designed to then steal personal and financial information.

A spokesperson for Action Fraud said: "Your bank, or any other officials organisation, won't ask you to share personal information over email or text.

"If you need to check that it's a genuine message, contact them directly."

If you have spotted a suspicious email you can forward it onto the Suspicious Email Reporting Services at report@phishing.gov.uk.
