A NEUROSURGEON who was found hanging at her home was formally declared dead after a brain scan confirmed her injury was unsurvivable.

At Bolton Coroner's Court a inquest was opened into the death of 35-year-old Julija Kozlova.

Police coroner's officer Neil McCaffrey told the court that Lithuanian-born Miss Koslova, who worked as a neurosurgeon, was admitted to the Salford Royal Hospital on July 12 after she was found hanging at her home in Dunster Avenue, Swinton.

"Despite attempts made to save her life, she deteriorated from the point of admission and a brain scan showed an unsurvivable brain injury," said Mr McCaffrey.

Miss Koslova was pronounced dead at 4am on July 13 and a post mortem concluded that she died from asphyxia due to suspension.

A police investigation found no suspicious circumstances and area coroner Peter Sigee adjourned the inquest for a full hearing to take place on December 15.
