A family have been left devastated after their house was broken into and their Audi car stolen.

The keys to the Audi TT was stolen from the top of the microwave around the early hours of Thursday morning as Andi and his partner Dawn Liderth were in bed along with their three children.

Despite reporting it to the police, the car has yet to be found and the family have been left consoling their children and feeling unsafe.

The family live in the Green Lane area of Horwich.

Dawn said: “I hope the person who broke into our house and took the keys to our car manages to have a better night's sleep than our kids.

“My six-year-old is laying wide awake for the third time crying again asking me not to leave her and petrified they’re going to break back in.

“Every little noise she's jumped-up mid sleep and her little eyes have nearly popped out her head.

“She's never hugged me as tight in her life and she's now in our bed along with my other girl because they don't want to sleep alone, too scared they’re going to come back into our home.

“I feel absolutely sick to my stomach at the thought of how the person responsible has affected my family.”

Andi is now having to use Dawn’s car for school runs and has been out all day on Friday to look for his car, with no success.

He said: “I was out for five hours looking for it.

“They broke into our kitchen window by breaking the lock on the panel, took the keys and left with the back door key.

“We didn’t hear anything until we woke up the next day and Dawn screamed the car had gone.

“Since then, the girls have barely slept in their own rooms and wake up at every noise, so it shook them up.”

Andi says he is concerned about the rise in crimes in Horwich and doesn’t believe the punishments by the CPS is a deterrent to stop people.

He said: “It’s so brazen of them to break into our house and take something I work for.

“There’s a lot of this happening around here now, but they get a slap on the hand and walk free.”

Greater Manchester Police confirmed the incident had been reported to them.
