WHEN PC Lee Ganley was told a man was trapped in a burning house, he did not hesitate to act.
The 35-year-old had been called to reports of suspicious activity in Tredgold Street, Horwich.
The Horwich-based officer said: "I was knocking on the door when I saw smoke pouring from the upstairs window.
A lady told me a man was asleep inside." The ground floor was empty and he went upstairs after wrapping a wet towel around his head. He said: "I made it as far as the front bedroom and could see the bed was alight, at which point I could not breathe and had to come back."
PC Ganley was presented with the Divisional Commander's Award for his actions.
