A man has been arrested after reportedly reversing into a farmer, leaving him stuck in a ditch.

Fire crews from Leigh and Farnworth were called at around 12:50pm on Monday 25 July) after a man is believed to have driven on to a farmer’s land at Birch Farm, Astley Moss, Tyldesley.

Police also attended the incident at around 1pm, after reports of an road traffic collision.

According to Watch Manager Green when the farmer challenged the driver, it resulted in an altercation where the farmer became stuck in a ditch.

Firefighters stayed for around an hour to help the farmer out of the ditch.

Watch manager Green from Atherton Fire Station said: “When the farmer challenged the guy in a car on his property it ended in an altercation.

“We were called at around 12:50pm, where we stayed for about an hour.

“Crews from Leigh and Farnworth attended to help.

“We assisted him out of the ditch, and the other man in the vehicle attempted to leave the scene.”

A spokesperson for GMP said: “On Monday 25 July at around 1pm officers attended an RTC at Birch Farm, Tyldesley.

“Following an altercation between two men, a vehicle had reversed into a male, pushing him into a ditch.

“The driver attempted to flee the scene but was arrested by police.

“Fire and rescue attended to help the male out of the ditch.

“There were no life-threatening injuries.”
