A Farnworth pub will be celebrating its first anniversary this weekend.

The Market Pub in Farnworth has laid on a whole host of activities to make the occassion.

The pub stood derelict until 2021 before it underwent a £500,000 investment by pub group Dorbiere.

It then relaunched with new pub managers Gary Daniels and Selena Molyneux in July 2021 after undegoing significant renovations.

The property reflects its heritage through murals dedicated to the history of the town and pub whilst the beer garden features large murals featuring the history of the previous brewery, W.M Tong and Sons at the Diamond Brewery, who built and owned the pub when it originally opened in 1901.

Pub managers, Gary and Selena, along with chef Peter Haworth are inviting people to celebrate the pub’s one-year anniversary with them.

There will be music and live entertainment on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, live football, competitions, free child meals with every main meal purchased and numerous offers on a wide range of drinks.

Gary  said: “We’re delighted to be here celebrating the first anniversary since The Market reopened.

"It’s no surprise that hospitality has been hit the hardest since the coronavirus pandemic, but we’ve come through to the other side – and it’s all down to our customers.

"We wanted to put a special event on for them really, to say thank you for their continued support and custom.

"Plus, with a multi-million pound package to improve Farnworth’s high street announced from Bolton Council, we’re so excited for what the future will bring.”

The pub is in the heart of the regeneration area of Farnworth.
