A man, aged 70, has died after a firearm discharge.
Emergency services were called to an address in Belmont Road, Astley Bridge, yesterday afternoon.
They said the found the man dead 'due to a firearm discharge' and there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
No futher details have been released on incident.
Police recovered the weapon.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “We were called out to an address on Belmont Road, Bolton at 1.17 pm on July 28, 2022, where a 70-year-old man was found dead due to firearm discharge.
“The weapon was safely recovered and there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
“The case has been sent to the coroner.”
Local residents said they saw a large emergency presence in the area.
Police were said to have remained on the scene until evening
One said: "They were there when we went passed just before 3, several cars and an ambulance, there was still a policeman looking in a red car and one parked up when we came back about 8.10 pm."
Another said: "I saw loads of police there at 3 pm.2
The North West Ambulance Service has also been approached for a comment.
