A woman has been arrested on suspicion of trespass after trains were stopped and a railway line had to be closed at Bolton train station.
British Transport Police say the were called to Bolton Station following reports of a trespasser this afternoon.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “British Transport Police were called to Bolton station at 2.22pm today (1 August) following reports of a trespasser.
“Officers attended and the woman was removed from the railway. She has since been arrested for trespassing.”
The line was blocked for a while.
Northern earlier issued a statement saying: “Due to a trespass incident at Bolton the line is blocked. Train services running through this station may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised.”
A spokesperson from Northern confirmed that at just before 3pm, all services at Bolton station had been stopped.
A spokesperson from Network Rail said: "We're advising people to check before they travel and we are currently assisting the police with this trespass incident."
Many train services were delayed and/or had to miss out stops due to the trespassing issue.
