A PATHOLOGIST has been unable to establish a cause of death for a Farnworth woman who was found dead at a Gran Canaria apartment, a coroner has heard.

At Bolton Coroner’s Court an inquest was opened into the death of 53-year-old nurse Lenore Ann Keohane.

Area coroner Prof Alan Walsh was told how Mrs Keohane had been on holiday in Spain, staying at the Sol y Paz apartments, Puerto Rico.

But on July 15 she was found unresponsive in bed by her husband, Thomas.

“An ambulance was called and, sadly, she passed away at the scene,” said police coroner’s officer Julie-Ann Hyde.

Her body was returned Bolton and Mrs Keohane, of Brookhouse Avenue, Farnworth, was formally identified using her passport photograph.

A post-mortem was carried out at the Royal Bolton Hospital but cause of death was recorded as “unascertained”.

“There may well have been a post mortem examination in Spain so I will request that enquires are made with regard to the investigations in Spain,” said Professor Walsh.

The inquest was adjourned for a full hearing to take place on December 7.

“I will ask my officer to pass my condolences and express my sympathy to the family for Mrs Keohane’s death,” said Prof Walsh.
