AN INQUEST has opened into the death of a motorcyclist who was involved in a collision with a van in Westhoughton.
Bolton Coroner’s Court heard how 33-year-old storage facility worker Damien Lucien Deluce was riding a motorbike on July 19 on Manchester Road, Westhoughton.
“At the same time a van was travelling in the same direction,” said police coroner’s officer Julie-Ann Hyde.
“The van turned off Manchester Road and Mr Deluce collided with the rear offside quarter of the van.
“He was thrown from the motorcycle and sustained fatal injuries.”
Mr Deluce, of Eastern Way, Little Hulton, was pronounced dead at the scene at 12.50pm.
He was formally identified using fingerprints and a post-mortem concluded he died from multiple injuries.
Area Coroner Prof Alan Walsh was told that a police investigation into the death is ongoing and so adjourned the inquest pending the outcome.
A review of the case will be held by the coroner on November 4.
