Two eateries in Farnworth have been given food hygiene ratings after recent inspections, the Food Standards Agency website shows.

The Market Hotel, a pub on Brackley Street, was handed a four-out-of-five rating after assessment on June 16.

On the Food Standard Agency's website it states the hygienic food handling is good, the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building is generally satisfactory and the management of food safety is very good.

Simpsons Fried Chicken, a takeaway on Albert Road, was given a score of two on May 13.

On the Food Standard Agency's website it states improvement is necessary in the cleanliness and condition of facilites and building.

During the inspection, food safety officers look for the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building including having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control to enable good food hygiene.

Inspectors found the hygienic food handling to be generally satisfactory and the management of food safety is also generally satisfactory.
