EXCITING opportunities are giving people of all ages the chance to develop new skills, be creative and support each other.

Winsford Care Community is celebrating after successfully securing funding for 13 projects.

The group, formed five years ago, has vowed to improve the health and wellbeing of residents.

Enthusiastic members have been working tirelessly to ‘make a better Winsford’.

The team met at Dene Drive Primary Care Centre to share their achievements after all their funding bids were approved.

Members belong to various groups and organisations.

Projects given the go ahead include a new youth club for children aged 12 to 15 at Brio.

The Neuromuscular Centre will be holding exercise sessions for carers. Crosshatch Community Art Gallery and Men in Sheds are looking forward to offering more people the opportunity to socialise, be creative and learn new skills.

The Thrive Chronic Pain Support Group, which was launched just before lockdown and provides support for more than 350 members, has received more funding.

New cookery courses will be held at Christ Church, Wharton.

New Images Youth and Community Centre is planning courses to support parents of children with anxiety.

Winsford Litter Project, which has more than 600 members, now plans to go into schools to encourage pupils to respect the town.

These dedicated volunteers aim to keep the town’s streets and parks litter-free.

Dr Penny Preston, lead clinician of Winsford Care Community, said: “We have an amazing care community with so many of our members going the extra mile.

“The new funding we’ve secured has enabled us to support even more great projects for people in the town.

“This has been a celebration of what we’ve achieved and what’s to come.”

Further information on the new projects will be announced in the coming months.
