A BWW driver was arrested after being chased down by police and failing a drugs test.

The driver was spotted by officers on patrol in the Little Hulton area on Saturday who gave chase after he failed to stop for.

After a brief pursuit the driver was stopped on Kersal Avenue and arrested after testing positive for cannabis at the roadside.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “The driver of the BMW X5 failed to stop for Roads Policing Task Force patrols in Little Hulton.

“After a brief pursuit and unable to lose the officers, he was detained on Kersal Avenue.

“A was a provisional licence holder with no insurance.

“He failed a drugs test for cannabis.”

Officers confirmed that the man was arrested and the car seized.

This comes after other recent cases of car related crime, including drug driving, driving without insurance and similar offences in and around the Bolton area in recent months.

Many of these have resulted in cars being seized by officers and sanctions handed out to owners.

Police have appealed for anyone concerned about vehicle theft or about other cases of crime and anti-social behaviour on the roads to phone 101 or 999 in the event of an emergency.
