Food hygiene inspectors have rated 13 eateries in and around Bolton in the latest round of inspections.

Examining  food handling, the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building and management of food safety, inspectors have rated eight eateries a five, three eateries a two and two eateries a one out of five rating.

The restaurants with the highest score of five out of five for their food hygiene include Blue Cafe at 21-23 Higher Market Street, Farnworth, Greggs Meadow at Meadows Service Station, 1041 Bury Road, Alison Bluer at Royal Hotel, 142 Albert Road, Farnworth, Syl's Kitchen at 32-34 King Street, Farnworth, The Beaumont Arms at Armadale Road, The Horseshoe at 395 Fold Road, Stoneclough Radcliffe and The Cheetham Arms at 983-987 Blackburn Road.

The Beaumont Arms on Armadale Road was handed the rating on July 31 and owner, Rebecca Little, said they are really happy because this is the first time they have hit five.

She said: "We are really happy about the rating.

"We offer great food, great service and value.

"We were inspected last Sunday and we had a four rating last time so this is the first ime we have had a five and it's great to have.

"We learnt a lot from our last inspection and we have improved massively from that."

In their inspection the pub was given 'good' across the board.

At a slightly lower rating, three eateries were handed two out of five ratings and these included Lord Raglan at 384 Halliwell Road, AK Grill & Curries at 74 Egerton Street, Farnworth and Perihut 3 at 76 Egerton Street, Farnworth.

On the Food Standards Agency website, all three eateries were rated generally satisfactory for their management of food safety whilst improvement was neccessary in all eateries for the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building.

Lastly, two eateries were given one out of five ratings for their food hygiene.

The Chicken Shaq at 10 St Helens Road and Lucky Star Chinese Takeaway at 291 Plodder Lane, Farnworth.

According to the inspection report, improvement is necessary at The Chicken Shaq for the hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities and building.

Whilst major improvement was necessary for the management of food safety.

On the other hand, major improvement is necessary for the hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities and building.

Whilst the management of food safety is generally satisfactory.

Both were approached for comment but did not respond.
