A round-up of cases dealt with by magistrates recently

Drink driver

MAGISTRATES have banned a van driver from the roads for 12 months after he was caught drink driving. Luke Kirkpatrick, aged 41, of Winifred Road, Farnworth, committed the offence when driving a Ford Transit van on Buckley Lane, Farnworth, on December 3 last year. He also admitted having no insurance and obstructing a police officer and was fined 381.

Identity

A MAN has been fined £660 by Manchester magistrates after he failed to name the driver of a Mazda 2 who police alleged had committed an offence. Johny Anwar, aged 33, of Carlton Street, Farnworth, had six points added to his licence.

Motorway offences

A MOTORIST has been banned from driving for six months after committing a string of offences on a motorway on December 2 last year. Anthony Allonby, aged 53, of Chorley Old Road, Bolton, was caught driving a Vauxhall Tigra on the M62 without a licence or insurance. He was also driving on part of the road not designated as a carriageway and the vehicle had no MoT certificate. He was fined £880.

Train fare

A BOLTON man has been fined £220 after he failed to pay for a £6.90 train journey from Poynton to Manchester Piccadilly on February 4. James Sonko, of Chorley Old Road, Bolton, was also ordered to pay £190.90 in costs, charges and compensation.

Woman harassed

A MAN who assaulted a woman twice and harassed her by sending unwanted messages and voicemails has been given a community sentence. Jason Looby, aged 48, of Marsden Road, Bolton, was fined £100 and must participate in 30 days of rehabilitation activities.

No licence

MAGISTRATES have fined a teenager £553 after he admitted driving a Ford Focus on Stanmore Drive, Bolton, without a licence, insurance or MoT certificate on January 31. Doninik Conka, aged 19, of Carrfield Avenue, Little Hulton, was also had eight penalty points added to his driving record.

Unpaid work

MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to do 150 hours of unpaid work after he was convicted of phoning a woman in breach of a non-molestation order on February 24. Leon Strutt, aged 36, of West Way, Bolton, was also ordered to participate in a relationships programme and 20 days of rehabilitation activities while a restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victim.

Number plate

A WOMAN has been fined £130 for having incorrect spacing on the rear number plate of her Audi. The car was spotted on St Mark Street, Bolton, on January 13. Tehsina Munshi, aged 27, of Bernice Street, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence.

Drink driver

MAGISTRATES have banned a motorist from the roads for 12 months after he was caught drink driving in Laburnum Road, Farnworth, on June 4. Darren Blower, aged 52, of Laburnum Road, committed the offence when he drove a Ford Focus. He was fined £253.

BMW motorist

A MAN who failed to provide police with the name of a BMW driver, who was alleged to have committed an offence on January 18, has been fined £660. Janos Farkas, aged 30, of Avenue Street, Bolton, was convicted of failing to name the driver.
