A self-confessed disco-lover and former model is putting on a series of 60s and 70s Soul and Motown parties.

Christine Armour from Westhoughton has set up the events as a response to what she sees as a distinct lack of places to dance to the music she loves.

“There’s nowhere to go dancing,” Christine said. “If you want Northern Soul there’s lots of places that do that, but nowhere is doing 60s and 70s disco.

“I love dancing and I’ve been throwing parties all my life.”

First offering of ‘Blighty’s Gold’ – named after the former Bolton establishment from the same era – will take place on Friday, September 16 between 8pm and 12.30am at the Over Hulton Conservative Club.

Christine said: “It’s newly refurbished and it has a large car park. It’s just perfect.

“I wanted to call it ‘Bringing On Back The Good Times’ because it’s my favourite song ever but it turns out that there’s already a night call that, so I went for Blighty’s Gold instead.

“Everybody went there in the 60s.”

Christine has enlisted the services of the “brilliant” DJ Paul Munro, who formerly played at Horwich RMI.

“A DJ can make or break a party,” she added.

There are 120 tickets available for the event priced at £6 each. They are available from the venue or by calling 07581199556.

A further four dates are also arranged - October 7, October 21 and November 3.
