A baby was sat on a passenger's knee without a seatbelt, police say as they took part in a 'day of action'.

Officers say they stopped the van and say they found that not only was the driver not wearing a seatbelt, but his partner had their child on their knee who was "unrestrained".

A Greater Manchester Police Bolton South spokesperson said: "Whilst officers were conducting speed checks on Deane Road, they had reason to speak to a driver of a transit van.

"When the vehicle pulled up the driver wasn’t wearing his seat belt in addition, and more concerning his young baby child was sat on the knee of his partner in the front passenger seat unrestrained.
