Two adults and a child were rescued by firefighters after a blaze at a flat in Halliwell this morning, Sunday.

A total of four fire engines from Bolton North, Farnworth and Bolton Central arrived at Stowell Court at 1.48am.

Two people managed to climb out the rear window of their upstairs flat as the fire service was arriving.

Crew members then rescued two adults and a child from a neighbouring house.

The flat fire involved a porch and the front door of the upstairs flat.

A spokesperson from Bolton Central said: “There was a flat fire at 1.48am this morning (Sunday), attended by two crews from Bolton, one from Bolton north and one from Farnworth.

“This was due to a fire involving a porch and front door of an upstairs flat.

“Two people were self-rescued from the upstairs flat out of the rear windows as the fire service was arriving.

“We rescued two adults and one child from a neighbouring house and led them to safety.

“This is now an ongoing fire investigation."
