A car crashed into a house in the early hours of today, Monday.

Emergency services were called at 2am at Maple Crescent in Leigh.

Neighbours said they heard a loud bang.

No-one was inside the house.

One resident said: “I heard a loud bang and had to grab my kids.

“Even though we were inside I wanted to make sure they were okay.”

Another resident said: “We heard a car door closing and thought they might be stealing a car or that it was a robbery.

“My husband had a look and saw a car parked outside.

“We then heard windows being smashed.

“The car had rammed right in front of the house.

“My husband said he saw a group of guys when he went to check outside, but he came back when he realised what had happened.”

Firefighters stayed at the scene for around two hours while they made sure everything was secure.

The Dangerous Building Inspectors are also expected to attend today to carry out a full investigation.

Watch Manager Howard Denton said: “We arrived at the scene after a car went into a house at 2am this morning (Monday).

“The car was driven in front of the house on Maple Crescent, Leigh, Atherleigh Way.

“We were there for about two hours, making sure that the premises were safe.

“There was no one in at the time, and no reported injuries.”
