It’s always satisfying to sample a pint of fresh, thirst-quenching cask ale, after a holiday abroad. The perfect balance of malt and hops is a taste that always hits the spot.

A beer that certainly satisfied my palate this week, was a delicious American style pale ale from one of my favourite breweries, Roosters. The Knaresborough brewer make a range of exceptional ales.

Their Fort Smith APA(5%) was a stunner. It had a golden presentation, with a white, creamy head. The beer boasted a strong tropical fruit aroma. More juicy tropical fruit followed in the taste: mango, passion fruit and some lemony notes were identified. I also detected a hint of peppery spice. They all balanced to perfection.

More tropical fruit and juicy, tangy fruit bitterness in the long, drying finish. An absolute lip-smacking beverage, in the warm, sultry temperature. It ticked all the boxes.

The beer was sampled at one of my favourite Yorkshire pubs, namely, The Talbot Arms, Settle. An ale that was in exceptional condition and immensely enjoyed
