Tell us a bit about the pub:

It is a family local pub which does nice pub food well that is fresh and local. We have got a nice new beer garden.

There is a welcoming and very friendly feel about the pub and it is really great and since we have taken over we have done a lot of refurbishment. The kitchen has had a £10,000 renovation with new flooring, new stainless steel counters and the whole kitchen has been decorated. And £16,000 has gone into the beer garden at the back of the pub which has already been well received by customers. The front of the building has had £7,000 invested into the new signage.

Is food served? If so what's on the menu?

It is basic pub food done well and our fish and chips are very popular. We do a steak and ale pie and then we do a nice roast dinner. The meats from that are bought locally from Bury market and then the vegetables are local to us too.

We serve food 7 days a week everything from cheese and onion pie to lamb shanks and weekly specials.

Is there a beer garden?

It was just a small yard when we got the pub but we have done a lot to it by putting astro-turf down and got new tables and it has been so popular during the summer.

Do you have any darts/snooker/pool teams?

We now have a darts board in one of the rooms and we want to have darts teams and a place for dominoes if people want.

Most popular drink served is:

We have a great selection of cask ales

Most memorable moment at the pub:

Probably when we did the beer garden and also getting trade and people to come back to pubs

Have you faced any challenges within the industry?

We had some issues with the kitchen but it is all sorted.

The best thing about running a pub is...

It has got to be meeting people who come in regular and then those new customers too and being part of the community.

The worst thing about running a pub is...

Getting up early to clean the place

The perfect hangover cure is...

A full English breakfast
