There are severe delays on motorways after a lorry overturned at a major junction.

The link road from the M62 Eastbound at J12 Eccles Interchange to the M60, both clockwise and anticlockwise, is closed after a lorry left the carriageway and stopped in a ditch, National Highways have confirmed.

They have also stated that the incident is likely to be ongoing throughout the day.

According to AA Traffic, there are reportedly severe delays of 28 minutes, with delays on the M62 increasing.

A spokesperson from National Highways said: “The link road from the M62 eastbound at J12 Eccles Interchange to the M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise is closed due to a lorry which has left the carriageway and come to rest in a ditch.

“All emergency services are en-route to scene. More information to follow.”

A CCTV image tweeted by National Highways shows what appears to be a lorry at the bottom of a bank, with emergency services on the road up above it, including fire crews.

Traffic data website Inrix says: “M62 Eastbound exit slip road to the M60 closed, queueing traffic due to overturned lorry at J12 M60 M602 (Eccles Interchange).

“A lorry has come off the road, down a bank coming to rest in a field. The link road to the M60 Clockwise and Anticlockwise are both closed, forcing traffic onto the M602 into Manchester.”
