Thornleigh Salesian College students achieved an outstanding set of A-level results, with many of the students achieving A* grades.

It comes as many students were hit with GCSE cancellations during Covid.

The school head says she could not  be prouder of their students' success.

Some of the students who achieved some notable achievements include Emma Halliday who achieved 3 A* grades, Max Marsden-Price who achieved 2A* and 2A’s, Fatima Mohmed who achieved 3A*, and Maggie Santhamurthy who achieved 2A* and an A.

Headteacher Andrea O’Callaghan said: “The students and staff at Thornleigh Sixth Form are celebrating an outstanding set of results this year.

“For this cohort of young people, who have overcome so much adversity following the cancelling of their GCSE results in 2020, there is much to celebrate.

“We are delighted that these students have developed lifelong skills of tenacity, resilience and determination to achieve such excellent results.

“We are celebrating some truly exceptional individual performances in terms of both attainment and progress, but we are also celebrating the friendships that have developed, the compassion that has been shown and the community that has grown together over the past two years.

“We could not be any prouder of these young men and women.

“The staff in our school have been relentless in their pursuit of excellence for these students and the support that every individual has received has been absolutely first class.

“We would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to all the parents, carers and families who have worked alongside us during these challenging times, and we wish every success for the future to all our students.”
