The Vice Chancellor of the University of Bolton has mvoed to  reassure students that all is not lost if they did not recieve the A-level results they wanted.

Students from across the borough have been handed A-level results.

University of Bolton Vice Chancellor George Holmes however wants to reassure students that it is not the end of the world if they do not get the grades required.

Speaking to the Bolton News, Prof Holmes said: "It is not the end of the world, do not worry if you didn't get the grades that you expected.

"There are lots of really successful people who didn't end up with the grades they expected, my own son didn't get the grades he expected and he is very happy now and he is off at a university in a different part of the country and is really successful.

"So don't panic, don't think it is the end of the world, new doors open and greater opportunities and more than anything else speak to the University of Bolton because we like people who need help.

"We are here to help people achieve their potential and so individuals who maybe haven't achieved their potential at this point, it's no real reflection on them.

"Remember this is not personal, this is not actually a reflection on you, everybody has different skills at different times.

"People develop at different rates, so hope for the future and come and talk to us at the University of Bolton.

"If you would like to come here through clearing, you can go on our website at the clearing connection points and they can go on the clearing ringline and they can come in and speak to staff on the open days.

"Approach the university, take advice and don't rush either, this is not a panic moment, this is a time to reflect and to think about the future."
