Police say they have seized an abandoned and uninsured car after the driver previously sped off in it.

Officers in Breightmet claim they noticed the vehicle in 'suspicious circumstances' on Stephen Street on Wednesday.

The driver of the vehicle then made a break for it, police say.

The officers later discovered the same car on Toronto Street, but the driver was nowhere to be seen.

A Greater Manchester Police Bolton North spokesperson said: "Whilst neighbourhood officers were on patrol in the Stephen Street area of Breightmet, they have observed a vehicle in suspicious circumstances, the vehicle made off at speed.

"The vehicle was later located on Toronto Street Breightmet, where the driver has made off from the vehicle, the vehicle has been seized as it had no insurance."
