Police say they have seized an abandoned car after a brief pursuit.

Whilst on patrol, officers in Breightmet seized a car after it made off from officers on Newby Road, Breightmet, followed by a police pursuit before it was found abandoned on Cheriton Drive.

The driver of the vehicle then made a break for it, police say.

Since the vehicle was abandoned, police have seized the vehicle and it has been sent for forensic examination and an investigation is currently ongoing.

A Greater Manchester Police Bolton North spokesperson said: "Whilst on patrol this vehicle made off from Officers on Newby Road, Breightmet and after a brief pursuit it was found abandoned on Cheriton Drive, Breightmet, occupants had made off.

"The vehicle has been seized and sent for forensic examination.

"Investigation ongoing."

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "If off road bikes are causing you a nuisance, please report it via 101 or online at https://crowd.in/DabtDp.

"If you have CCTV footage or any still images of the bikes or riders, please email this to Bolton.partnershipteam@gmp.police.uk, this will then be passed onto the relevant Neighbourhood Policing Team.

"Please do not put yourself in danger when doing so.

"Your safety is paramount."
