Hairy Biker Si King has spoken of his love for Bolton and the town's people as he is set to take to the stage to share his love of food and music.

Not only with Si King cooking up a storm in the kitchen he will also take to the music stage with his The King Cush Band in Le Mans Crescent during the Bolton Food and Drink Festival.

Si will be joined by 90’s TV legend Jenny Powell - who will be hosting the celebrity chef’s cooking demonstrations

TV chef favourites The Hairy Bikers have been feeding and entertaining the nation with their various cooking shows and recipe books for over two decades. Having produced over 26 books and selling six million copies worldwide, it’s safe to say when it comes to great food, they know what they’re talking about.

Si King, one half of the popular cooking duo, will host three cooking demonstrations for revellers to enjoy throughout the day.

The national treasure will be providing his unique mix of cookery expertise, with all of his usual humour and enthusiasm thrown in. His cheeky nature and inviting charm are what has won him and Dave Myers an adoring league of fans from around the world - and for one day only, Bolton is getting a piece of the action as he rides into town.

Appearing on Saturday, August 27 at the festival’s new home of the majestic Albert Halls, Si, alongside iconic TV host Jenny, will be serving up some mouth-watering dishes with his cooking demos taking place at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Plus, special book signings will also be held following his first two shows.

Chief taste tester Jenny will be on hand to sample all of Si’s marvellous creations, while also delving into the star’s 20-year career, providing some never before heard insight into the life of a Hairy Biker. Jenny will also be lifting the lid on her TV presenting career - and together the duo will provide equal measures of tasty food and unrivalled entertainment.

Si is also set to join the festival's music offering too. Originally scheduled to perform in the Albert Halls theatre, people can now catch Si and his 10-piece band, The King Cush Band, performing on the festival’s main stage from 7.30pm on Saturday - meaning loads more festival goers will be able to enjoy their unique mix of funk, rock, blues and disco.

Speaking about his excitement in joining the festival, Si said: “I’m very much looking forward to coming to Bolton for the Food and Drink festival, it’s going to be a great weekend. I love Bolton because the town takes on this whole persona of food - on top of great music and the best bit, great people - all right in the heart of the city, it’s fantastic.”

He added: "I absolutely love the festival, it’s one of the highlights of the summer for me. Hopefully you can make it down to see us, there will be a lot of like minded people talking about food, I’ll be hosting some cooking demo’s and also performing with The King Cush Band - so make sure to come and see us.”

Jenny added: “I’ve been a big fan of the Hairy Bikers for years and am thrilled to be sharing the stage with Si King at the Bolton Food and Drink Festival as chief taste tester! It’s going to be a brilliant day packed full of incredible food, whilst we also have a little natter about Si’s incredible 20-year career cooking up a storm - you don’t want to miss this!”

Bolton Council’s Deputy Leader, Cllr Hilary Fairclough, said: “The Hairy Bikers are a festival favourite and we are excited for Si King’s return to Bolton to entertain the crowds. To have The King Cush Band playing too is the icing on the cake and I am thrilled that there is just so much free live music in our town centre for residents and visitors to enjoy over the August bank holiday.”
